Connect System,
Sustainable Furniture Concept.

project type.

Furniture Design

In collaboration with another creative, this project was part of an entry into a furniture manufacturer’s design competition. The brief was to produce a sustainable design for a piece of seating and/or table products. The Connect concept was curated around an angle bracket bracing system that could allow for each component to be removed, positioned inside the legs this offers a neat design feature whilst allowing for easy maintenance to replace any component.

This flexible solution has therefore been built around a family of products that ensure the user has open capacity to change any failing elements over time, this range of chairs and tables can be supplied with a spares pack, and any failed components or just requiring a refurbish can be issued back to the factory for restoration. All of the materials have minimal impact on the environment and are fully recyclable. FSC rated Ash for the timber elements, Recycled Steel for the metal components and recycled waste plastic for the moulded plastic components. The longevity of this product should be timeless, and should metalwork need to be re issued the current components can be re finished or recycled into another product should the chair be discarded. The target market should be variable, with endless design possibilities and smile maintenance should appeal to all commercial sectors, especially Workplace, Hospitality and Residential rental markets with high traffic and a requirement for versatile products.
